You have reached the Privacy Policy for Bird Census, the publisher of Bird Census. We are a small independent studio that cares about your privacy and has deliberately designed Bird Census to collect as little information as possible. This document tells you exactly what we do and don't do with any data that passes through our hands.
Bird Census collects only the following:
localStorage. This data never travels over the network — we have no server-side record of it whatsoever.We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, payment information, IP-linked profiles, or any other personally identifying data.
The minimal data described above is used only to: (1) serve and operate Bird Census correctly on your device; (2) detect and fix technical errors or performance problems; (3) understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the game. We do not use any data for advertising, remarketing, or behavioural profiling.
Bird Census does not set advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party cookies. We use localStorage solely to persist your high score between browser sessions. You may clear this at any time via your browser's built-in storage management tools, which will reset your saved score but will not affect your privacy in any lasting way.
We embed Google Fonts for typography. When your browser fetches a font file, Google's servers receive your IP address as a routine HTTP side-effect. Consult Google's Privacy Policy for details. No analytics platforms, advertising networks, social media widgets, or other third-party trackers are embedded in Bird Census.
Web-server access logs are retained for a maximum of 14 days and then automatically purged. Your localStorage data is kept on your own device indefinitely until you clear it. We have no remote mechanism to read or delete it because we never receive it.
Depending on the laws of your jurisdiction you may have the right to: access any personal data we hold about you; request its correction or deletion; object to or restrict certain processing; and to data portability. Because we hold almost no personal data, the most direct way to exercise these rights is to clear your browser's localStorage. For any additional request, write to birds@birdcensus.app and we will respond within 30 days.
We apply reasonable technical safeguards to the minimal server-side data we retain. Nevertheless, no transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We have designed Bird Census so that even a complete server compromise would expose nothing personally identifying about its players.
We may revise this Privacy Policy if our practices change or legal requirements demand it. The 'Last updated' date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. We encourage you to revisit this page periodically. Continued use of Bird Census after a revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
